Umngazi has been filled with happy moments - celebrations, laughter & much jubilation! From Island Style New Years Party to St Patrick’s Day Celebrations; guests and the team have certainly been swept off their feet – literally!

We will be exhibiting at Africa’s largest trade travel show, Indaba this year.
Indaba takes place from the 9-13 May 2009 at the DEC/International Convention
Centre, Durban. Our stand number is G013 based at the Durban Exhibition Centre. Should you be attending Indaba, do pop in as we look forward to meeting you.

Good news…Umngazi has reached the finals in the AA Award (Family Resort Category). The winners will be announced at the Indaba on the 10 May 2009 – hold thumbs! We once again thank guests for their patronage & for giving us your feedback. We would not have reached the finals without your comments.
We continually strive to improve all aspects of the Umngazi experience & take this opportunity to showcase our newly decorated & refurbished: Ntabeni Suites (meaning on the hillside), our honeymoon suites, the shop & the teenage den.

On 15 April 2009, an absolutely senseless attack on defenseless man, Richard Cassels took place…taking his life away. He was a regular, long standing Umngazi guest.

On behalf of the Umngazi team, we extend our condolences to the Cassel’s family & friends. He will be sadly missed by all.

We bid farewell to Sharm Ramdeni, our building specialist, as he retires in Durban. Sharm worked for Umngazi for 15 years – a good innings!

We would like to congratulate Loreen Ginyani on her promotion to senior spa therapist.

We would like to congratulate
Marlon Thoresson our entertainment manager/in-house chiropractor for reaching his dream. Marlon’s passion is music. He took the flying leap and has recorded his debut solo album to the world titled “All Come True”. For those of you who have shared one of those magical bonfire nights on the beach or special Umngazi sunset on the bar deck with Marlon…you won’t be disappointed.

Cranberry Tart (Perfect for an Autumn tea party!)
- 2 cups cranberries (dried)
- 1/2 cup pecan nuts
- 1/2 cup sugar
- Chop nuts and berries
- Put into bottom of pie dish and cover with sugar. Leave

Topping: 1 cup sugar, 1 cup flour, 2 eggs, 3/4 cup melted butter, 1/4 tsp vanilla.
Combine all together and place on top of berries.
Bake at 180 for 40 mins.

Nature once again touches little hearts at Umngazi. Simone spent her holiday nursing an injured swift.

On a happy note, the swift recovered & was released back to his natural environment.
